Professor Nicolas Girard is Head of the Thorax Institute Curie-Montsouris, Head of Medical Oncology at Institut Curie, Paris, and Professor of Thoracic Oncology and Respiratory Medicine at the UVSQ, Paris Saclay University, France.

Professor Girard is a leading pneumologist specialising in clinical and translational research projects focused on improving the treatment of thoracic cancers such as lung cancer. His expertise ranges from the development of perioperative strategies in resectable tumours, to the management of locally-advanced disease in EGFR-mutant NSCLC, and lung cancer screening. He is an expert in the management of thymic tumors, authors of the ESMO clinical practice guidelines for these tumors; he authored multiples clinical and preclinical studies on thymomas.

Professor Girard’s current research interests include the development of precision medicine and immunotherapy monitoring in lung cancer and other rare thoracic tumours. Furthermore, Professor Girard has co-authored over 400 scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals, specialising within the landscape of thoracic oncology.

Professor Girard serves as Lead of rare thoracic tumours within the multi-domain European Reference Network known as EURACAN; he has been involved in the International Thymic Malignancy Interest Group since 2010. He is on the editorial board for the Journal of Thoracic Oncology and Lung Cancer.
