Paolo Bironzo, MD, PhD, is Associate Professor of Medical Oncology at the Department of Oncology of the University of Torino (Italy). His main research focus is on thoracic tumors, including lung cancer, pleural mesothelioma and thymic tumors. He is actively involved in both Academic and Sponsored Clinical Trials as well as translational research projects. Most of them are aimed at providing precision medicine to patients with thoracic tumors. He is chair for mesothelioma for the European Organisation for the Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC) Lung Cancer Group as well as Coordinator for the Italian Association of Medical Oncology (AIOM) Guidelines on Pleural Mesothelioma. He is member of the Italian Association of Medical Oncology (AIOM), European Society of Medical Oncology (ESMO), and International Association of the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC) where he is part of the Rare Thoracic Tumors Committee. He is also an active member of Women Against Lung Cancer Europe (WALCE), a non-profit European organisation whose primary aim is to increase women’s awareness about lung cancer in female population and to support patients and relatives during the difficult path of disease.
